The Holiday Mini-Golf Building Contest is a server-wide event open to all players that started on December 23rd, 2018 and is scheduled to end on February 8th. More information can be found here

Format

The contest will involve players building a mini-golf course. There will be 2 brackets - one for 18 hole courses and one for 9 hole courses.

Rules

All submissions and courses must adhere to the following rules

Submission Rules

  • Anyone member or above may enter. This includes staff members
  • The course must be constructed in an already existing town. This may be in your town or in another player's town (with permission)
  • You may not charge anyone for building a course in your town
  • There may be multiple courses in a city - this includes those built for just this contest and already existing ones
  • Multiple members may collaborate on one course, but one person must be chosen for submission
  • Each member may make only one submission
  • The organizing staff have rights to disqualify anyone as necessary

Course Rules

  • The course must be 9 or 18 holes
  • Courses may be of any theme
  • Courses can be built inside or outside
  • There must be a way in which players can get a ball to play with (for example, a [Free] snowball sign)
  • The primary block must be a block which allows items to slide - however, they may be covered with carpets or slabs
  • All holes must have a visually unique 'Tee box' for players to start from
  • All holes must have a hopper that acts as a cup - architects are also allowed (but not required) to make flags for the holes
  • All holes must have a par value

Voting

The courses will be judged by 5 players - all of which are course architects of those recognized by the MRT Golf Association - autobus22, CaptainObi, godzilltrain, London150, and SkyjumperTalon. The courses will be separated into 2 brackets - 9 hole and 18 hole brackets. The courses will be judged out of 10 on the following criteria

  • Playability: How well each hole is made, and how enjoyable the course is
  • Variety: How different each hole is, rather than every hole being similar
  • Aesthetics: How good the course looks
  • Clubhouse/Entrance Design: How it matches the theme, and how well it looks. Outdoor courses will be judged on Clubhouse design and entrance design, and indoor courses will be judged on entrance design.
  • Balance: Is the course too hard, too easy, or just right
