NEWS-DT (channel 5) is a GEP Broadcasting member television station in Parkland, Greater East Plains. Its studios are located opposite to the Matilda Strip Mall and its transmitters are located at the peak of the nearby Cedar Hill.

Governor Plans: Capital 2024 announced by city government

After almost a year of hiatus, the city government has finally announced the Capital 2024, a proper Governor plan for the city of Parkland. The fourth revision of the city's master plan, which had also been long delayed, was also unveiled on the same day, with four new districts from the previous master plan in order to meet area requirements for the first stage of the planned Parkland-Berkeley International Airport. While the city government only announced the first stage of the project to be completed by late 2023, which is already incredibly ambitious, there are still plans for the city to expand even further east with more satellite towns.

NEWS-DT unveils new logo and on-air look

The executives at NEWS-DT have unveiled a new look for the GEP Broadcasting station on Wednesday, December 7th. When it was initially revealed, GEP Broadcasting announced that all NEWS-DT facilities would be rebranded first, before the logo is rolled out to the new ident package and news broadcasts.

McRae Transit Center opens for revenue service

Capitol Transit Parkland has just opened the new state-of-the-art McRae Transit Center, which is served by a new northern extension of the Parkland Area Express' 1 Line and routes 63 and 188. The facility features a robust three-level design which enables more amenities such as the ticket office to be built. On the same day of the opening, the aforementioned route 63 was launched as a shuttle bus service to IKEA Parkland, which allowed passengers to take a two-seat ride to the first IKEA in the Greater East Plains from Parkland Union Station.

Governor Plans: Northern part of Union to be redeveloped into Mallard and more

New expansion plans for Parkland have been unveiled today at the Parkland City Hall, which includes finally developing the northern part of Union into a new neighbourhood named Mallard, expansion of the Parkland Area Express light rail system and completing the Southgate district. The previously planned Parkland Maisonneuve International Airport has also been removed from all new master plans due to the construction of the Greater East Plains International Airport, instead being used for newer developments around the Mallard neighbourhood. During an Q&A section at the end of the meeting, the city government announced that the fourth iteration of the city’s master plan is slated to be unveiled tomorrow online.

Magnolia introduces new Gfinity brand

Variety Brands CEO STthecat announced today at a press conference the formation of the Gfinity brand under its subsidiary Magnolia, which will provide low-cost telecom and cable television service to DPCC member cities and the Greater East Plains region. Gfinity’s services include the Gfinity Voice landline telephone service, Gfinity Mobile, the Gfinity WiFi internet network and Gfinity Cable, which will include public television service GEP Broadcasting and commercial television network LBC as part of its lineup.

NEWS-DT's First Broadcast

NEWS-DT started to broadcast today, July 5th 2022, at 15:27 PDT. This marks the start of GEP public television in Parkland.
