Hello!

Please do not list requests for your company here on this talk page, as we will not follow the procedure. Please do so at the link under the category "Listing/Updating your Company" over at Fairfax Stock Exchange.

Also: To head off complaints or accusations, we are NOT going to compete with MRT Stock. If you wanted an comparison, MRT Stock is NASDAQ, the second largest stock exchange in the world. We are much more similiar to London Stock Exchange.

Any suggestions? Do drop it here!

Questions about Company Instances

Okay, so in total Cyan Systems has 151 open station designs (or instances) and additional 10 pasted but not operational station designs. The designs are operational but the rail lines they are apart of are not. Do closed stations count towards the stock value?

FSX also takes into account the number of rail line companies served. For my calculation on this please see the Cyan Systems/Directory page. I've counted companies that may only have 1 station that was provided by Cyan Systems, most of the time as part of SCTC or Inchmuir Central. Is this okay? Or would it be better if I counted SCTC and Inchmuir Central as the customers served, and not the transit company that happens to be using it?

Cyan Systems often provides technology for a single line. For example the Alcraft City Subway is a one-off line which isn't officially operated by a company, just by the Mayor of the town. Should these count as a transit company served? 0rocketscience0 has a few one-off rail lines, none of which operated under a company, only himself. Should I count each of these individual lines as different companies served, or just count the player server, or not at all?

Thanks, Thomasfyfe (talk) 12:47, 14 June 2014 (EDT)

Yes, closed stations count since you provided the technology for those. Of course, you wouldnt count the line itself due to its inactivity. Since you are a tech provider, you count every instance of technology provided PLUS the customer. SCTC is a single customer, so you will count how many stations in SCTC plus 1 (For the SCTC itself).
Yes, as long as its a minimum of 2 stations and is an active, you can also count the line. Since Rocket is a individual, count all his lines plus the customer (+1). If he had several companies, you would have counted each companies once.
I hope this was clear. Good questions.

Discussions/Suggestions regarding the First Cycle

Hello!

As you may have noticed, our first cycle has now made public. What I would like to hear from you all is suggestions on how to improve FSX.

However, several things are set in stone:

  • There will be no attempts in gaming the stocks to get political points.
  • There will be no attempts to include inflation, deflation, and the such. This exists simply as a counter-style stock market. MRT Stock may be a better place if youre more interested in that kind of mechanisms.

The rest? Lets talk it out. I have several areas of concerns myself.

The biggest issue with the initial cycle focused on transit systems. Let us cover the two issues:

  • There are some issues with counting specific train stations that led me to set up a new category, which is called a "Whistle-Stop Station". This consists of a pillar with a button next to a dip in the track bed with two unpowered rail. I was not going to count them whatsoever, but decided to give them 1/4 points each instead of counting it as a single point. That being said, please do remember that we do count transit stations bigger than 6x6x3 as a single point. Anything smaller than that will either 1) recieved a 1/4 point with our approval or 2) not being counted at all. Do you think this solution was fair? Or was it not fair?
  • A suggestion was made that we count intra-city (those transit that serves totally inside a single station) as 1/4 point per station due to some cities being spamming the stations inside their city limits. Inter-Rail Systems (those who serve at minimum 2 (possibly raised to 3 in the near future, take note) will remain as a single point. Some believe this was more than fair, because it takes considerably more work in acquiring permissions and building the infrastructure compared to those who stay within the city. Was this fair?

Now an question for you all:

  • How can we improve FSX? What can we do to help you? What can we do to attract more business and players in this stock exchange?

I look forward to a lively discussion, and remember: the final decision will be made by the Board of Directors, but we value your input. (Hint Hint, we need a few more staffers at FSX).

Questions Regarding Transit Tech Providers

Traditionally, transit tech providers would be companies such as Cyan Systems, which provide rail stations for people to use, but what about buses? Would bus manufacturers, such as IntraBus Fleet Division, fall under this category? KittyCat11231 (talk) 15:58, 20 June 2014 (EDT)

Depends. My definition of a tech provider is a company that provides/installs mechanisms involving redstone, pistons, hoppers, etc that are bigger than 6x6x3 (or approximately more than 100 blocks total). So a company can not only be specialized in transit stations, but ticket fare gates, entry/exits, fireworks that goes off at night-time, and the such. Does the bus fleet have a redstone component in it? I doubt it since the acutal redstone itself is the doors and theyre only 2 blocks tall. (However, I suggest an alterative: since you "sell" buses to other companies, you should be a retail company.)

Just A Note

Please don't be alarmed that Feline Holdings has been updated from 3 to 123 to 124 to 149 to 150 in one day. At first, I thought Corporation Indexes only counted number of companies, similar to MRT Stock, until I was informed otherwise by music. Counting the instances of all my companies in addition to the number of them, I came to a conclusion that Feline Holdings had 123 instances. After I added a Catronics in Zicronia it increased to 124. Then I realized I didn't include IntraBus itself, which had 29 instances, and I recalculated to 149 instances for Feline Holdings, before realizing I was still calculating as if the new Catronics hadn't been added, so I raised the instance count to 150. KittyCat11231 (talk) 20:07, 20 June 2014 (EDT)

You did it correctly, so no worries there. I expected more from Feline Holdings, though. Glad to know its accurate now. Frozen (talk) 20:33, 20 June 2014 (EDT)

Suggestions

I have a suggestion with regards to the TechIndex. I propose that the index be renamed as a Transit Designs Index, for technology (such as stations) which are specific to transit in addition to buses, helicopters, and other warp vehicles. Any companies that simply provide redstone contraptions for public consumption should be in the RetailIndex. KittyCat11231 - THE LLAMAS ARE COMING!!! Question Regarding Mobile Service Providers

I own Feline Wireless, and like other cell providers, I have stores which count for stock points. However, I also build cell towers, some of which are quite large, and I believe other providers, including BaseWire, also do so, and for mobile service providers I think these count as a valid portion of the company. Therefore, I'd like to know if cell towers would count towards stock points for cellular service providers. Thank you. KittyCat11231 - THE LLAMAS ARE COMING!!!
