Wembley Stadium

Wembley Stadium is a multiuse stadium in Hendon located east of NE4, Hendon West Station on the MRT Northern Line. It is the only largest capacity stadium in the city and has provisions for football, archery, american football and rugby.

History

During the construction of the B125 Hendon Orbital Motorway in 2018-2019, there was a massive expanse of land surrounding the motorway and was mainly natural. Hendon Mall was already built by this time, and so plans were put forward for a new multiuse stadium fit for the MRT Summer Olympics in 2020, joint hosted by Hendon and Titsensaki who both split the events between the two cities. Hendon did not have adequate facilities to host a serverwide national event until the new multiuse stadium was built.

Wembley Stadium was built in an area near to Hendon Mall and the area itself which it sits in is now known as Wembley Park. As a result of the areas naming, there was no tube service available to Wembley Park until the Jubilee Line arrived in 2022, extending from Harrow Road station. The nearest Hendon Thameslink station is at Hendon West, which is located to the west of the city's mall.

Redevelopment of the stadium

Redevelopment of Wembley Stadium started in January 2023 to bring the stadium up to standard for future TacoBurritoAThons. An american football pitch was deemed too large to fit in the original size of the Stadium and so redevelopment took place to have a reasonable length for future uses.

The west and east stands were moved further from its original place, which meant that a small cut-and-cover tunnel was built on the link road connecting the multistorey car park with Junction 3 of the B125 motorway. This did increase capacity by a quarter and has improved the area overall by allowing longer field sizes at the stadium.

As a result of the redevelopment, fans are now permitted to enter via the turnstiles at different points around the stadium. During high demand matches, segregation will be put in place with home fans using the South, North and West stands, whereas the away fans will only be allowed into the East stand. Players and officials must enter via the North stand, as this is where the changing rooms will be.

Events held at Wembley Stadium

Due to its multiuse, Wembley Stadium has instantly become a hit with many people on the MRT, as a large venue and also as a Hendon landmark in its own right. The list below confirms which events have been held at the Stadium in its recent years since opening in March 2020:
