The Ontario Broadcasting Service (OBS) is a Kanatian-Meridian multinational commercial broadcast television network. The network is headquartered at 1 Bristol Road South, Soundview, where the OBS-owned KMPS-TV station is located.
History
1940-1975
The Ontario Broadcasting Service was founded in May 1940 as a radio company to operate Soundview's new radio station which opened earlier that month. It was founded by entrepreneurs Robert Gates and John Cameron and they hosted the radio news broadcast on the station from 1940 to 1945, making the decision to switch to television.
2022 - present
In 2022, the MRT Radio and Television Commission was founded, and the company changed its previous station naming scheme to match the new commission's. KMPS became NMPS, for example.
