Broadcasting

Television

There are more than 40 local television stations. Television was formerly monopolized by TeleNansei Media, operating channels Channel 6 and NanseiNewsNow. Later, TeleNansei Media was replaced with the Nansei-Gunto Broadcasting Association, a federation of TeleNansei and local municipal broadcasters, also inheriting Channel 6 and NNN. Private station NGLX, an affiliate of LBC, is also based in Shenghua. The main form of transmission are terrestrial signals, transmitted from the Nansei Pearl Tower in Shahai. TeleNansei also provides cable television service with over 300 local and international channels.

Radio

The main radio broadcaster, SBC, has 6 radio channels from FM frequencies 98.8-99.5, with all stations also available online. Digital broadcasts are being trialed as well.

Emergency broadcasting

In addition to sirens located across the region, the Nansei-Gunto Emergency Broadcast System transmits emergency alerts on television and radio. Automated alerts are broadcast on all broadcasting stations, similar to real-life systems in the US and Canada, while full information is available on NSOS-TV and NanseiNewsNow. Cell phones are also required to support emergency alerts on cell networks.
