Survivor: Vakayawa, also known as Survivor 3 and Survivor: Vakayawa – Brains vs. Brawn vs Beauty, is the third season of Survivor hosted by daltdisneyland. The season premiered on March 15, 2020. The game will be played in a blended game show format: the game was played in sessions, similar to game shows such as The Mole or The Amazing Race, but in a continuous day-to-day Discord similar to Big Brother.
Production
The season was officially announced on October 31, 2019 following the conclusion of the Halloween mini-season, with applications announced to be open in February for a premiere in March. In December, it was announced that January 2020 would hold a "Month of Reveals" with new information revealed every Thursday or Friday on Mumble and in the #events channel in Discord. On January 2, the first tribe was revealed to be named "Toka" and use the color magenta. On January 9, it was revealed that the previous rules regarding in-game death would be relaxed, making new challenges such as PVP-based ones possible. At the GSM on January 12, "Survivor Vakayawa" was written on r/place and the wiki page was made containing only the sentence "Survivor: Vakayawa is a mysterious phrase that appeared on r/place..."; it was clarified to be the title of the season later that week on January 17. On January 23, it was announced that idols would be returning to the camps in a similar fashion to the first season. However, it was also announced that some idols might expire before the end of the season, making it necessary to play them in certain phases of the game. The season Discord server opened along with applications on January 31. Applications closed and MinecraftYoshi26 joined on the production of this season on February 14, 2020.
