MRT Shinkansen
MRT Shinkansen is a rail company that utilizes TrainCarts in order to provide high-speed rail across the New World. It is owned by lightshatterz. MRT Shinkansen is part of Railway Companies' Association since January 11, 2024.
History
With the announcement that TrainCarts might come to the MRT server, chimata began drawing up plans for Shinkansen lines, with all of the lines radiating from Sealane to points in Zeta. The first line planned, Hokubu Shinkansen went from Sealane to Erzville. More Shinkansen lines were planned, with each line reaching a different part in Zeta, serving various towns through Gamma and Epsilon.
When TrainCarts was added in Beta in 4 PM at November 13, 2023, chimata began building the MRT Shinkansen test line from Cornwall to Nymphalia, with 3 intermediate stations: Merritt Lakes, Broville and Padagonia. The section to Nymphalia was completed at around 8 PM, with 2 services being available: Hayate, stopping at each station and taking about 2m 50s section at 130 km/h, and Hayabusa, running non-stop and taking about 1m 20s at 240 km/h. chimata spent time trying to deal with TC pathfinding, including with the TC trains not recognizing destinations.
On the next day, the Shinkansen Test Line was extended to New Bakersville, with stops at Fort Chipewyan, Greenfields, Jaikrunda, introducing the first above-ground Shinkansen segment in response to a comment made by time2makemymove about the line being entirely underground. Also at this time, Hayate trains were renamed to Rina Tennoji trains extended to Cornwall. The section between Cornwall and New Bakersville, as timed on that day is about 5m 25s on Rina Tennoji and about 2m 40s on Hayabusa.
When TrainCarts was approved at the December 2023 GSM, lightshatterz began building the first line, Hokubu Shinkansen from Erzville, becoming the first line in MRT Shinkansen to be built. Additionally, the distance between the rail and the catenary was changed from 4 blocks, as measured in the MRT Shinkansen Test Line to 3 blocks to enable interoperation with other TrainCarts companies. Additionally, due to the new plans for TC lines, such as Central City Belt Line, lightshatterz decided to move all the Shinkansen lines to start at Central City instead of Sealane.
