MS Azalea Valley is a cruise ship built for and owned by Azalea Cruises. Part of the Arctic-class family of cruise ships, its namesake is the MRT Valley Line. She is the lead ship of the Arctic Plus-class, a sub-class of the Arctic-class with major changes to the design features. Her port of registry is New Singapore.

The Azalea Valley was scheduled to enter service in February 2022 but has yet to do so, as of October 2022.

History

Azalea Valley and her five other sisters in the Arctic class were ordered on April 21, 2021, by Azalea Cruises.

Azalea Valley's keel was laid on December 15, 2021, off-server, in advance of its planned maiden voyage in February 2022 due to its major redesign compared to the Arctic-class. She was built as a widened version of MS Azalea Plains with a newly built front end before her exterior was rebuilt from the ground up.

On December 17, 2021, Azalea Valley was fully completed and left for Wenyanga the following day for finalization.

Ports of call

As of December 2021, Azalea Valley is planned to sail four-night cruises from Wenyanga, her home port.

Facilities

Azalea Valley is the first of the Arctic Plus-class vessels, a sub-class of the Arctic-class that added new and improved features. As such, Azalea Valley has more major differences compared to her older three sister ships. This includes a change in the classification of the decks, changing from letters to numbers to be in line with other vessels of its kind.

Deck 1 of the Azalea Valley contains the promenade.ctrl shopping mall featured in all Azalea cruise ships, a 1-screen Dream Cinemas movie theater, and the Showdown Casino. It also serves as the entrance for docks which are small and has no empty space. Five new franchises will debut, one will replace Comet Cafe.

Decks 2, 3 and 4 contain a grand total of 94 staterooms, Decks 2 and 3 have 32 each while Deck 4 has 30 staterooms. Each stateroom has 2 beds, a TV, and a balcony with 2 chaise lounges. They only have simple amenities, hence no bathrooms are available in the rooms. Deck 2 has an entrance for larger docks where Azalea cruise ships may stop at, as well as a medium-sized helipad. Deck 4 is connected to the bridge, which is restricted to crew members only.

Deck 5 contains 12 luxury suites, which are popular among VIP travellers. The suites are much larger than staterooms, and in addition to the basic stateroom facilities, also has a bathroom and a small jacuzzi. Unlike the Arctic-class, the Grand Union is not located at the back of Deck 5, instead being replaced by an aft balcony. Deck 5 also contains Gelatin’s Steakhouse, a world-class grill which is located at the front of the deck.

Deck 6 houses the Azalea Lounge, which had been featured in Nansei Cruise Lines’ Diamond-class ships. The Azalea Lounge not only serves as a hangout area, but also has a grand piano and a small library for the comfort of travellers. The back of Deck 6 is occupied by Pearl Spa, itself named after NCL’s current flagship Lake Pearl. Pearl Spa offers massages including hot stone and shiatsus.

Deck 7 is the rooftop deck, which features an enlarged pool and the new Tree Bar, which is themed around Azalea’s official mascot, the azalea tree. Grand Union has also been relocated to Deck 7 from its previous location at the back of Deck D. Unlike Azalea Taiga and Azalea Plains, there are no mini-spleef arenas and tennis courts due to the lack of space in Deck 7, however this is expected to change in the future.

Deck 8 can only be accessed via stairs from Deck 7. Deck 8 features more seating for Grand Union, as well as four jacuzzis at the front of the deck.
