New Rotterdam is an unranked town in Ward 8. It is located in the interchange between MRT Lakeshore Line, MRT Union Line and L2 Line.
History
Pre-founding and Visice
The MRT Lakeshore Line station where the town is in was built as part of the Lakeshore Line extension to Las Playas in July 2022. AquaticAero was allocated LW42 in August 2022, with the town being named Visice. A station roof the Union Line station now sits on was built, and a West Zeta Rail station was built as part of Northmist Line expansion to Las Playas, but it was torn down a day later in order to get a 4K wavier approved and lack of development.
In June 2023, SimonScholar built the MRT Union Line and L2 Line through the area, creating an 3-line MRT interchange, which 14 other station have and the third 3-line MRT interchange outside of Gamma, with others being located in Dwarka and Birdsview.
New Rotterdam
After watching a video from Not Just Bikes and the commencement of Union Construction incentive by SimonScholar, chimata set out to found a new town inspired by Dutch planning on the MRT Union Line and chose U190. The name was chosen by chimata asking the chat to name a Dutch city that isn't Amsterdam and Rotterdam was suggested, and the town was named "New Rotterdam". After claiming the station, the WZR station was rebuilt.
The street names in this town have Dutch names. The main street paralleling the West Zeta Rail line is named "Asahistraat", after a restaurant across the road in Dordrecht station.
The WZR station opened in New Rotterdam at September 29, 2023 after the town was registered. In October 7, 2023, Needn_NL became the deputy mayor of this town after being asked if he wanted to be DM.
