Traveller's Tavern is a Tavern chain owned by JTrain77, with headquarters at New Begginings (Note that these headquarters may eventually become a regional HQ to make way for a larger more sophisticated HQ). There are currently 12 locations across the server (if JTrain77 counted correctly), and JTrain77 is usually open to adding more.

History

The original "Traveler's Bar"

The idea for Traveller's Tavern started out as a joke. Hvt2011 had built a 2x1 tunnel in Tranquil Forest marking where he was considering building a tunnel. As a joke, JTrain77 went far down the tunnel, and built a tiny bar in the middle of it. This "original" Traveller's Tavern was actually called Traveler's Bar (spelled exactly like that). It's design was drastically different from the design used now, but it had a few significant features which stuck. First off, it had two drink options displayed in colored glass containers: The Blue stuff, and the Brown stuff. Secondly, it had an armorstand bartender. Finally, it had a much shorter variant of the Traveller's Tavern greeting message, which reads "You've journeyed long. Take a break." It also had an additional message telling Hvt2011 that he was free to destroy it if necessary, as it was built without his permission. This joke Traveller's Tavern can still be found at the end of the remaining 2x1 tunnel off of Ashbury Ave.

This original bar was not ever intended to be made into a real franchise, however, one day, GrizzlyBearJulia, mayor of SummerVille, asked for franchises for her mall, and JTrain77, thinking of the joke bar he built, offered to build a full size bar, upon which he changed the name to Traveller's Tavern, and built Traveller's Tavern's first location in the Summerville mall. This was to be he first in a long-ish line of Traveller's Taverns.

Features of Traveller's Taverns

The Interior of the Traveller's Tavern in Dulwich.

All Traveller's taverns contain a wooden/rustic sort of theme, and have very specific rules for what they should look like.

The look and features of a Traveller's Tavern have evolved over time, so some older Traveller's Taverns may not have all the amenities that newer Traveller's Taverns do. However, all new Traveller's Taverns contain:

  • The signature trapdoor entrance, using wooden trapdoors and pressure plates. This feature can be found at all but one location.
  • The signature greeting message. All Traveller's Taverns have a sign displaying this message on the outside:

"You've Journeyed far, now it's time to sit down, relax, and have a drink. Enjoy your time with us."

  • The Three signature drink options of Traveller's Tavern: The Red Stuff ($1.29/cup), The Blue Stuff ($.99/cup), and The Green Stuff ($.99/cup). All drink options are displayed in clear containers behind the bar. This feature can be found at all locations.
  • A fireplace behind the bar with a chimney. The chimney is only included for stand-alone locations, and the Fireplace is included at nearly all locations.
  • A refrigerator behind the bar for keeping stuff cold. This feature can be found at most locations.
  • A storage chest. This storage chest contains empty bottles, napkins, ingredients for refilling the drink tanks, and cookies. This chest also used to contain various meats, however, these meats were removed after JTrain77 realized that the meat belongs in the fridge. This feature can be found at nearly all locations. If any chest are found still containing meat, or found empty, please notify JTrain77.
  • A armorstand bartender. If a location is found without a bartender, please notify JTrain77.
  • A unisex bathroom. This feature is found at several locations, and is usually in the basement. This feature will be included at all future stand-alone locations.

Locations

All Traveller's Tavern locations are hand-built, and generally cost $20-30. Additional fee's may be applied if Terra-forming is involved. There are several types of Traveller's Taverns:

  • Stand-alone - This location is in its own building
  • Complex - This location is inside a larger complex containing other stores or features (i.e. in a mall)
  • Micro - This location is much smaller than a typical Traveller's Tavern, and does not have many of the typical Traveller's Tavern Features. This is only ever built inside a complex with very limited space.
