Hempdon
Hempdon is a chain of retail cannabis dispensaries on the New World. In July 2020 Hempdon got popular for becoming the first cannabis dispensary franchise.
History
The idea of Hempdon first started on April 20, 2020 when EliteNeon started a meme town named Hempdon on an unused MRT station (JS29). The name Hempdon is a pun on the MRT city Hendon. People who visited were given a sugar cane nametagged "weed". Later that day EliteNeon scrapped the town, although EliteNeon gave Worrski (a new guest at the time) his blessing to continue the town when Worrski became a member.
3 months later in July 2020 Worrski came back as a member. He planned on continuing on with Hempdon but as a franchise. CodyHM had asked for a Hempdon location, followed by London150. And the rest is history.
On August 3, 2020, Hempdon opened its first Express location in the Hut Kong district of Name Pending.

Controversy
Although Hempdon has been allowed by multiple staff to operate, it did run into a bit of controversy where user Avaneesh2008 asked for a Hempdon in his town Cypress, unaware of what it sold. After finding out it sold cannabis and other substances, Avaneesh2008 closed down the store. After an inspection by _Lego_ found Hempdon of no danger, Hempdon Cypress reopened under new procedures that have not been put into place at any other Hempdon stores. But the day later it was closed again, after Avaneesh2008 this time permanently. Hempdon representatives gave the defense that the new menu items never specifically referenced drugs of any sort. The floor it occupied in the Cypress Mall is still vacant.
In the company's heyday a main opponent of the franchise was the People's Republic of Totem Beach. Supreme Leader crimsonf0x had made many comments criticizing the franchise, and when it was announced Hempdon was opening in the neighboring town of Haversham, multiple protests led to deteriorating relations between the two towns. In early 2021, Sand mayor TheSubway was banned from the server, and the People's Republic staged a coup d'état against the town. On March 20, 2021, the Hempdon in Sand was raided by Totem Beach compliance officers[1] and was forced to close down. Following Supreme Leader crimsonf0x's ban months later in November 2021, the location has since reopened.
