The 18 Premier cities on the New World. Challengers attempt to visit each city at least once in the shortest time possible.

The Premier City Challenge is a navigation challenge on the New World created by chiefbozx, challenging players to travel to each Premier-ranked city on the New World in the shortest time possible.

The rules of the challenge are as follows:

  • You must visit each Premier-ranked city on the New World at least once. You do not need to visit the Old World city of Arisa. In its current form the challenge requires you to visit 18 cities. The full list of cities is as follows (though it's up to you to determine the best order): Achowalogen Takachsin, Airchester, the City of Evella, Deadbush, Elecna Bay, Espil, Kenthurst, Kessler, Kolpino City, Laclede, Lanark, Larkspur, Quiris, Segville, Sunshine Coast, Utopia, Venceslo, and Whitechapel.
  • You must use flight and walking speed 1.
  • Speed and Jump Boost potions, or anything (besides beacons) that provides those effects, are not allowed.
  • You may use a Version 2 Fastboi horse in any attempt. No other horses may be used, including naturally spawned horses.
  • You may use wooden boats.
  • If you are attempting a challenge class that permits you to use warp-based transportation, you are responsible for the cost of taking those warps.
  • You may use Dynmap and the wiki to plan your route.
  • You may have Dynmap, the wiki, and any notes you have compiled (including a route plan and screenshots) open and available during your run.
  • You may not receive assistance from any other players during your run, though they may assist you in the planning process.
  • You may not use staff powers, the TPA command, homes, or spawn. Using any of these requires you to start over.
  • Dying at any time during your challenge requires you to start over.
  • To count a city as "visited", you must pass through an MRT station, airport, heliport, ferry terminal, bus stop, warp rail station, or cart rail station within the town, or visit the city's town hall. Some exceptions and clarifications to this:
    • Achowalogen Takachsin: The allowed MRT stations are XE7 through XE20, and C15 through C18; the allowed warp rail stations are AT-West, AT-Suburb, and Solarion Downtown. ATC Airport and its warp rail station, along with Solarion Outer and AT-Covina Downtown warp rail stations, the MRT Marina, and XEM Station, are excluded.
    • Kessler: The only allowed MRT station is T27. Dragon-based transport is permitted and treated as planes.
    • Lanark: Horizon National Airport, Horizon Junction Station, and Swale are excluded.
    • Quiris: There are no airports eligible to count for Quiris, however there are several MRT and other stations.
    • Segville: Segville International includes the highway between the two terminals. Therefore, if you use the highway, it will count as visiting Segville (and does not invalidate a Class S attempt).
    • Whitechapel: Whitechapel Border Station is excluded, as it is located in West Calbar.
  • There are four classes of challenge, each with increasing restrictions on the available transport methods you may use.
    • Class C allows you to travel on foot, and to use ferries, buses, Version 2 Fastbois, seaplanes, regular planes, helicopters, elytra, tridents, warp rail, cart rail, warp ferries, and wooden boats.
    • Class B allows you to travel on foot, and to use ferries, buses, Version 2 Fastbois, elytra, tridents, warp rail, cart rail, warp ferries, and wooden boats.
    • Class A allows you to travel on foot, and to use elytra, Version 2 Fastbois, tridents, cart rail, and wooden boats.
    • Class S allows you to travel on foot, and to use Version 2 Fastbois, cart rail, and wooden boats only. This class also requires you to complete the challenge in survival mode. Before you begin the challenge, you will need to give yourself a /kit race. Switching back to creative for any reason invalidates the Class S attempt, but you can continue under Class A.
  • Tridents with the Riptide enchantment are allowed in classes C, B, and A, but not S. Riptide enchantments must be level 3 or lower. Video proof is required and you must show the enchantment level on your trident.
  • You may use additional or excluded airports, ferry terminals, etc provided they are permitted within your selected run class. For example, if you are attempting a Class C run, you can still fly or ride trains through ATC Airport (passing through it does not invalidate the run): it simply does not count as visiting Achowalogen Takachsin. On a Class B run you can use the ATC warp rail station, but not the airport itself. On a Class A run you can't use either the warp rail station or the airport, but you can use the MRT and the surrounding roads.
  • You may only suspend your stopwatch during a run if you disconnect from the server, and must restart it immediately upon reconnection. If you disconnect during a Class S run, the run is still valid provided you immediately switch to survival mode upon reconnecting.
  • If you are not being accompanied on your run, you must start your stopwatch when you leave the last transportation facility within your starting city, and stop it when you arrive at the first transportation facility within the destination city.
  • You may livestream or record your run. If you are using tridents, you ***must*** record or livestream your run.
  • Time penalties may be issued for violations of the rules. Skipping a town results in an invalidation of the challenge attempt.

If you have attempted this challenge, please send the following information directly to Chief:

  • Your Minecraft username (as you should on any email correspondence with staff)
  • Date of challenge attempt
  • Your full route, including which locations you visit in each city and the transport methods you took between them
  • Time elapsed from departure of first city to arrival at last city
  • If you live-streamed or recorded your run, a link to the archive footage. If it’s private, contact Chief for details on how to share it.

Prizes may be awarded (funded by Chief) to players who post and beat the records.

You may send your route to Chief in advance and follow up with your time if you manage to complete a run.

FAQ

Do I have to leave each airport, station, etc?
No. You can stay in the same vehicle and continue on to the next destination along its line and it will count. Of course, you can also change vehicles or transport modes if you need to.
Do express trains that pass through a station without stopping count?
No.
Can I just go into the city limits instead of going to a transport building?
No. You must visit a transport facility or the city hall for the city to count. Exceptions and exclusions are noted above. Failure to do this can result in time penalties.
Can I do a drive-by of a city hall or transport building?
Sort of. You don't have to enter each building. As long as you pass within 10 blocks horizontally of an entrance, or stand on the roof of the building, it counts.
Do I have to submit a video recording?
Technically no, but please do if you have it. It may be required in the future and it helps me validate the route.
What city should I start or end in?
That's part of the challenge! You need to decide the order that you'll visit the 18 New World Premier cities in. You can choose any cities as your starting and ending points. To help you out, the starting and ending city of each completed attempt will be published here.
What class should I attempt?
Class C is the easiest and shortest, as it allows you to use any method of transport. Class S is the most difficult and will take the most time to complete. If you're relatively new to the server, Class C is a good way to learn about the airports, while Class B is a good way to learn about the railways.
I'm a guest, can I participate?
Guests are welcome to attempt the challenge in classes B and C, but can't qualify for prizes. Guests should not attempt the challenge in Classes A or S due to the reliance on Fastboi spawning and uCar placement.
How much time will this take?
A well-defined route should take about 5 minutes in Class C, about 10 minutes in Class B, about one hour in Class A, and about two hours in Class S. This does not include planning time. These are just estimates based off some back-of-the-envelope math and the runs that have come in, and all times will be accepted for the leaderboard. You might have a really bad run, or you might find a shortcut I've completely forgotten about!
Is there any compensation for low TPS?
Unfortunately no, because that would be really hard to calculate. You may want to wait for a less busy time and try your challenge then. (This will mostly impact Class A challenges.)
How accurate do my measurements need to be?
Hand times will be rounded up to the nearest five seconds. Times submitted by video will be rounded to the nearest hundredth of a second, calculated from the frames of the video. Please submit times as they appear on your stopwatch, they will be rounded as needed when they are posted here.
Do I have to go to Central City or Arisa?
No. Central City is a Special Administrative Region and is not Premier, and Arisa is on the old world.
Why are ATC and Horizon National Airports excluded?
They're rather far away from the city centers of the towns they serve - and it gives a bit more of a challenge as it's impossible to do the entire challenge with planes only.
Are you (Chief) participating?
I might give it a shot just to try it out, but prizes will go to the best time that's not me. I gotta run this damn challenge and all the logistics.
Will you publish my entire route?
No. Your starting and ending cities will be published, but the rest of your route will not. You are welcome to share your route or video if you wish.
What game mode can I be in?
If you're doing Class S, you have to be in survival. Otherwise, you can be in creative or survival. Regardless of your class, make sure your flight and walking speeds are both at their default (/speed 1) before you start.
Can I throw speed potions at my Fastboi and make it be a FasterFastboi?
No.
Can I attempt the challenge more than once, win multiple prizes, or do so in multiple classes?
Yes, you may submit attempts in as many classes as you wish. You can win one prize per class. Multiple attempts per class are okay too.
For airports, do I have to visit the terminal or is anywhere on the tarmac okay?
You need to be within 10 blocks of an entrance to, or standing on the roof of, the building for it to count. For airports, this means the terminal buildings, any connected jet bridges, and any free-standing gates marked on the apron and occupied by a plane with active warps. Clipping the corner of the runway does not count. The only exception to this is the highway running down the middle of Segville International Airport, as that will count.
Can I use fireworks with elytra?
Yes. There aren't any restrictions on what kinds of fireworks you can use, but don't be dumb.
Can I use tridents with Riptide?
Yes. Enchantment levels must be 3 or lower, and video evidence showing your enchantment level is required.

Notes:

  • EliteNeon's March 19 Class S attempt includes a 30 minute time penalty, as while all towns were visited, Elite did not visit transport hubs in several towns as is required.
  • KittyCat11231 attempted the Class C challenge on March 19, but skipped Larkspur, thus invalidating the attempt. His March 20, 2020 attempt was validated and accepted.
