The Dogwood Madison Beach Cruise Center (DMBCC), Madison Beach Cruise Center (MBCC), or Dogwood Cruise Center, formerly known as the Madison Beach Ferry Terminal, is a cruise terminal complex located in the Madison Beach district of Dogwood. The original terminal opened in April 2021 as a ferry terminal but was later converted into a cruise terminal as the cruise ship industry was growing.
A complete rebuilding and expansion project of the cruise port was approved by the DP City Council on May 17, 2022, which would include four new piers and a brand new terminal for Azalea Group ships only. The project was completed on June 1, 2022, with the reopening of Terminal 1.
History
Dogwood was founded by STthecat on April 6, 2021. Despite Wuster's Burgers' first location being the first build to be completed in the town, the Madison Beach Ferry Terminal, which intended to connect the town to the rest of the New World via sea, was the first to be erected in the town.
The original terminal was completed on April 10, 2021; however, no gate requests were opened as STthecat was ranked Member. Airplaneguy9 founded Nansei Cruise Lines, kickstarting a new cruise ship industry. STthecat later founded Azalea Cruises and chose Dogwood to be one of the ports MS Azalea Arctic would call at.
Soon after the Azalea Arctic entered service, the terminal was renamed the Madison Beach Harbour Center to reflect its shift of focus on larger cruise ships. Over the next few months, other cruise lines such as Acadia Cruises, Nansei Cruise Lines and Platinum Cruise Line began using the terminal. By April 2022, a year after the completion of the terminal, all piers were occupied.
STthecat became concerned that more cruise lines would be requesting docks in Dogwood. This led to the creation of a master plan to remodel the terminal and its docks entirely from the ground up. This proposal was approved by the DP City Council on May 17, 2022. Work on the project commenced three days later, starting with reclamation works east of the original terminal.
Terminal 2 and its surrounding facilities were completed on May 22, 2022, and were handed over to Azalea Group on the same day. Terminal 2 commenced operations on May 30, 2022, with the Kagawa Sobu using the new terminal and docks. Terminal 1 was closed for renovation and all cruise lines serving Dogwood, regardless of being part of the Azalea Group, temporarily used Terminal 2. The project was declared as completed on June 1, 2022, when Terminal 1 reopened for all non-Azalea Group cruise lines.
Terminals
The Dogwood Madison Beach Cruise Center has two operating passenger terminal facilities: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Terminal 1 is situated on the original site of the old terminal, while Terminal 2 is situated east on reclaimed land.
Terminal 1 serves Platinum Cruise Line and non-aligned cruise lines, while Terminal 2 exclusively serves cruise lines that are a part of the Azalea Group.
