The MRT Mesa Line, or simply the Mesa Line, is one of the 21 lines of the New World MRT System and one of the 11 initial New World MRT lines built in conjunction with the Gamma server update.

History

The New World MRT lines' builders were divvied out during the August 2014 GSM. The line was initially to be built by chiefbozx but thomasfyfe who missed that GSM expressed interest in helping with the construction of that line. chiefbozx decided to instead focus on the building of Central City so primary building duties fell to thomasfyfe.

The initial stretch of line from  M1  to  M5  was built by yeamanator132 so that the parallel stretch of Mesa, Desert and Expo lines could be planned and built together. thomasfyfe took over track construction from where  M5  ended and continued up to  M30 . The line was continued east from  M1  to  MX  adding an additional two stops within Central City rather than the one that other lines were terminating.

The second phase of the MRT Mesa Line construction began with extending the line from  M30  to  M35  at Totsworth. While not intended to be the new terminus, construction beyond Totsworth was delayed for a few months until work was picked up again with a newly accepted plan for the southwest corner of the map (see below). It was proposed by thomasfyfe that instead of terminating at a large hub, the line should continue beyond this hub and continue through the Mesa biome to Heampstead. A station,  M42  was built in October 2016 to prepare for this extension, but it wasn't until December 2018 when megascatterbomb finished the extension up to Heampstead, where the station was renumbered to  M38 .

In Epsilon MRT plans by Frumple, the line was suggested to take 2 routings, both ending in MRT Western Line. The first routing passes through  M42  while the other routing forgoes that station, taking a direct straight routing.

In Zeta MRT plans by Frumple in April 2020, the line would be extended west to the arctic, then it would either go northwest to the jungle or southwest deeper into the arctic region.

The line was extended further west to  M54  in Tembok by SimonScholar (called godzilltrain at this time), after being approved to extend the line in May 2020 GSM. In the M47 station in Coruscant marks 100km of MRT track built by Simon. The extension was completed in May 15, 2020 and opened in June 2020 GSM.

In 2021 and 2022, the Mesa Line was extended twice to  M65  in Hazenne. The first extension to  M62  in Rizalburg was proposed October 2021 and built by Mojang1014, sponsored by Skelezomperman. It was completed in November 6, 2021, received a soft opening in November 13, 2021 and opened in November 2021 GSM. Then, the extension to  M65  in Hazenne to connect with Desert Line by Foote_Chicken was proposed in January 2022 ISM, sponsored by Mojang1014 and opened in March 2022 GSM.

In Zeta MRT plans by Frumple in November 2022, the line would have several changes. The first change is that the existing Mesa section between Rosebridge and Hazenne would be converted to Western Line, then Mesa would be extended southwest to Wenyanga and would take over Desert Line up to  D90 .

On 8 January 2023, as part of Project Midway by Missa_Solemnis, the line was cut back to Tembok at  M54 , as the stations from these extensions were transferred to the MRT Western Line. The Mesa Line was extended, with new underground tracks from  M54  to  M57  and a new connector built to connect to  D69 , where it took over the Desert Line segment from  D69  to  D90 . The extension to  M90  was completed in January 20, 2023 after the connector was built. Due to this extension and the takeover of the Desert Line segment from  D69  to  D90  made it the second New World line to be completed after the MRT Circle Line.

The Mesa Line commences at Central City, passes through Ward 7 and Ward 6, and terminates in the desert biome near the southwest corner of Zeta. The current travel duration for the line's entire length is approximately 38 minutes.
