The MRT Mesa Line, or simply the Mesa Line, is one of the 22 lines of the New World MRT System and one of the 11 initial New World MRT lines built in conjunction with the Gamma server update. The MRT Mesa Line runs from Central City to southwest Zeta, going through the Grand Mesa, where the line gets its namesake from.

The MRT Mesa Line has 93 stations and was the second line to be considered fully completed.

History

The New World MRT lines' builders were divvied out during the August 2014 GSM. The line was initially planned to be built by chiefbozx; however, thomasfyfe, who missed that General Staff Meeting, expressed interest in helping with the construction of the MRT Mesa Line. As chiefbozx decided to focus on building Central City instead, primary building duties fell to thomasfyfe.

As the initial stretch of the MRT Mesa Line from M1 to M5 is a parallel stretch with the MRT Desert and Expo lines, yeamanator132, the main builder of the MRT Desert Line, built the first five stations. thomasfyfe took over track construction from beginning at M5 and continued up to M30. The line was continued east from M1 to MX, adding an additional two stops within Central City.

2016 plans for the MRT Mesa Line extension, proposed to extend to Heampstead

The second phase of the MRT Mesa Line construction began with extending the line from M30 to M35 at Totsworth. While not intended to be the new terminus, construction beyond Totsworth was delayed for a few months until work was picked up again with a newly accepted plan for the southwest corner of the Gamma. thomasfyfe proposed that instead of terminating at M35, the MRT Mesa Line should continue beyond and through the mesa biome to Heampstead. M38, originally numbered M42, was built in October 2016 to prepare for this extension; however, the extension was only completed over two years later in December 2018 by megascatterbomb.

In Frumple's Epsilon MRT plans at the May 2017 GSM, two routings for this line was suggested, with both ending at MRT Western Line. The first proposed routing passed through M42 in Heampstead, while the second routing forgoes a station in Heampstead and instead takes a straight routing.

In Frumple's Zeta MRT plans in April 2020, the MRT Mesa Line would be extended west into snow biomes then go either northwest to a jungle biome or southwest further into snow biomes.

The line was extended further west to M54 in Tembok by godzilltrain after being approved to extend the line at the May 2020 GSM. The extension was completed in May 15, 2020 and opened at the June 2020 GSM.

In 2021 and 2022, the Mesa Line was extended twice, ending at M65 in Hazenne. The first extension to M62 in Rizalburg was proposed in October 2021 and was built by Mojang1014, sponsored by Skelezomperman. It was completed on November 6, 2021, and officially opened at the November 2021 GSM. The extension to M65 in Hazenne to connect with MRT Desert Line was proposed by Foote_Chicken at the January 2022 ISM, sponsored by Mojang1014. It was opened at the March 2022 GSM.

In Frumple's Zeta MRT plans in November 2022, the MRT Mesa Line's routing was changed as the existing section between Rosebridge and Hazenne would be converted to MRT Western Line and the MRT Mesa Line would be extended southwest to Wenyanga and take over MRT Desert Line up to D90.

On January 8, 2023, as part of Project Midway by Missa_Solemnis, the line was cut back to Tembok at M54 as the stations from these extensions were transferred to the MRT Western Line following Frumple's 2022 plans. The MRT Mesa Line was extended with new underground tracks from M54 to M57 and a new connector was built to connect to the, then, D69 Station. The extension to M90 was completed in January 20, 2023, after the connector was built. Due to the extension and the takeover of the Desert Line segment from D69 to D90, the MRT Mesa Line was the second New World line to be considered 'completed' after the MRT Circle Line.

Route

The MRT Mesa Line runs from Central City to M90 in southwest Zeta via the Grand Mesa and Dewford City, through wards 5, 6, and 7. The travel duration for the line's entire length is approximately 139 minutes.

Original section

The line begins at Central City SE Terminal, located in a balloon loop. A transfer to MRT Zephyr Line is available across the underground level and transfers to MRT Forest Line and MRT Island Line are available via stairs. The line then goes across south Central City, with 2 stops at Hill Street and Wishington Avenue. In Central City, the line has 4 stops, unlike MRT Arctic Line, MRT Forest Line and MRT Plains Line which have 3 stops, then stopping at Central City SW Terminal, where the shared segment with MRT Desert Line and MRT Expo Line begins, and an additional transfer to MRT Arctic Line is available.

In the shared segment with MRT Desert Line and MRT Expo Line, the lines emerge into an open cut and cross A0, leaving Central City and entering Sealane, where the lines shift. On the way to XW2/M2/D2 station, Expo Line rises, while Desert and Mesa Lines remain level. The three lines remain underground along Wallowyn, Little Italy and Formosa, where the three lines descend at different points, with Mesa Line briefly emerging to an open-cut before descending underground. After XE5/M5/D5 station in Formosa, the lines split, with MRT Expo Line going to Kenthurst, MRT Mesa Line going to Evella and MRT Desert Line going to Danielston.

The line then goes above ground into the mountains, making another stop in Formosa, at M6 station. On the way to Evella, it makes stops at Burnt Oak and Palatium. As the line goes through Evella, it enters a desert biome, before leaving Evella, where the line goes south, stopping at Glenbrook, Aprix and Tenepi. Then, the line descends on the way to Kolpino City, making additional stops at Pelham and Avalon, before entering Janghwa City.

In Janghwa City, the line makes 4 stops there, from M21 to M24 stations. At M24 station, the line meets with MRT Circle Line, where a transfer is available. After M24 station, the line enters the Grand Mesa, where it remains until M39. The line makes stops at TekTown, Birdhall, Haskaa and Thomasville. Between M29 and M30 stations, the line crosses a canal connecting Lake 8 and Estival Sea.

Mesa Extension 1

After crossing the canal, the line makes stops at Medved City, Southern Mesa Checkpoint, Cavia and Totsworth. Along this extension from M30, the line rises, following the plateau before descending for M32 and M33 stations. Then, the line rises again on the way to M34 station in Cavia, where a transfer to MRT Desert Line is available. Then, the line goes into a viaduct on the way to Totsworth.

Mesa Extension 2

In Totsworth, the line goes above London Way, before the line descends underground, where the line gets a new style, with the tunnel being made out of terracotta with a orange terracotta line and redstone lamps down the center, and red sandstone pillars along the way. At some points, you can see skylights and open-air sections that have been covered. The line then rises to cross B61 before going underground and descending, going across Deadbush. The M37 station is located underground with connections to Deadbush Centro Station and Deadbush Metro. Then, the line turns to the north and briefly surfaces for M37 station, located in Pioneer District and formerly offered an connection to Deadbush Pioneer-Howard Airport.

The line then goes back underground and descends. After crossing A6 and B61 again, then rising again to meet with M38 station in Heampstead, which has a different station style, as it was built in anticipation of the future extension towards Heampstead, and was initially numbered M42. This station is predominantly made out of orange wool with birch plank flooring, with stairs leading to the exit and a never-completed connection to Heampstead Metro.

Mesa Extension 3

The style in this extension is like all other extensions built by SimonScholar: viaducts made out of quartz with orange wool sides with white glass barriers, and a orange wool line running down the center with redstone lamps along the way and 4-high tunnels made out of quartz with orange wool lines and redstone lamps along the way on the sides and tracks.

After Heampstead, the line turns to the west, and goes aboveground from a plateau. The first stop from Heampstead is Deadbush International Airport, at M39 station. Next, it stops at Southwest City, at M40. The line then goes across the desert, with 2 more stops, before arriving at New Chandigarh, located at M43 station. The line remains completely level until M45 station.

From M45 station, the line descends underground, going through Coruscant, at M46 station. In that station, a gold marker marks 100km of MRT track built by SimonScholar. At the next station outbound, M47, a transfer to MRT Savannah Line is available, and then Cactus Springs at M48. After crossing the desert biome, the line enters a savannah biome, stopping at Auchendale and Acacia Hill, before approaching Tembok, at M54. Originally, it rose slightly on the way to M54 station, with direct access to Tembok Railway Station, but as part of Project Midway, the M54 station was converted to MRT Western Line and a new Mesa Line station was built below the new Western Line station.

Mesa Extension 4 and 5

From M54, Mesa Line Extension 4 began with the line rising above ground, serving Mesacago (now called Chicagoland), Rosebridge, where the line turned to the south, still remaining in a plains biome. Then, it stopped at Idk, going across a savannah biome, then descending after M61 station on the way to Rizalburg. This extension, from M54 to M62 (now WS24 to WS32) was built by Mojang1014 and its tunnels, which are made out of stone with pillars running from top to small and an orange terracotta line with shroomlights along the way, and quartz viaducts with orange concrete running along the viaduct, with redstone lamps placed on the center line and sides.

From Rizalburg, where Mesa Line Extension 5 began, the line crossed a canal connecting Lake Gunto and Gray Cloud Lake via a small, unnumbered lake, entering the tundra biome, then ascending above ground while crossing A68. The line then went across the biome, paralleling A68 before terminating at M65, where a transfer to MRT Desert Line (now MRT Oasis Line) was available. This extension, from M62 to M65 was built by Foote_Chicken is completely straight except for a single turn before entering M65 station, and features stone tunnels with orange terracotta lines running along the sides and pillars, smooth stone markers and redstone lamps placed along the way. The ground and elevated sections have stone bottoms with orange terracotta running along the center with redstone lamps placed where the smooth stone markers meet, which runs along the way with railings on the sides, and pillars made out of stone.

As part of Project Midway, Mesa Extensions 4 and 5 were transferred to MRT Western Line.

Mesa Extension 6

The extension is made out of 2 parts. The first part goes from M54 to M69 and and is entirely new in order to connect with the second part, which goes from M69 to M90 and was inherited from MRT Desert Line. Both parts were built in Missa_Solemnis's style, with has wide quartz viaducts with a bowl-shaped bottom and orange concrete line running along the center with sea lanterns along the way, and spacious quartz tunnels with a dome-shaped top, with orange concrete lines and sea lanterns running along all four sides.

In the first part, the line mostly parallels MRT Western Line, running underground until M57 station in Rosebridge where MRT Western Line turns to the north to Rizalburg, and then MRT Mesa Line ascends above ground, running along the savannah biome, with tunnels where the line meets savannah plateaus. On the way to Dewford City, at M59 station, the line rises, running on the plateau before descending. The line then goes to the southwest, going across more desert and savannah biomes, with the line zig-zagging from M59 to M64. At M64 station, the concurrency with MRT Oasis Line begins. In the concurrency, which goes until M69 station, the line is completely straight except for a slight hump between M65 and M66 stations and around stations in the concurrency. The concurrency ends with MRT Oasis Line turning to the west on the way to OW48 station.

At M69 station in Wenyanga, there is a long transfer passageway to OW48 station. If you go into spectator mode, you can see an old MRT Desert Line tunnel, where it descended from D69 station (now OW48 station), turning to the south, and then descending underground.

In the second part, after M69 station, the line descends in order to cross Lake Gunto, then rising after M70 station on the way to the next station, M71. At M71, a transfer to available to MRT Southern Line. The layout of this station is similar to XE42/J0 station in Bawktown, two crossing lines at-grade, with the station being shaped like a plus sign. After M71, the line zig-zags through the tundra and forest biomes, remaining at ground or slightly above ground for the most part.

After passing through FT House at M78, the line goes across a plain biome, stopping at Sunflower Plains before encountering mountains. After crossing the mountains, the line goes in a south-west trajectory, going across a forest biome until M83 where the line dips. At M83 station in Porton, a transfer to MRT Union Line and Port of Porton warp rail station is available. After Porton, the line ascends above ground, continuing the south-west trajectory going through the savannah biome until Uacam Beach, where the line turns to the west and follows the road, and the line terminates at M90, located about 200 blocks away from the world border in a desert biome.
